Modified Gradual Release

In virtual onboarding, procedures and systems training for groups can be an overwhelming experience. I like to give learners opportunities to hone their skills throughout the learning process.

Live Demo &
Follow-Along

Step One

In the virtual instructor led training (vILT), demo the system usage as learners perform matching follow-along steps.

Review &
Simulation

Step Two

During a self-study block, learners watch a how-to video of the process for review and then experience a click through simulation to better familiarize themselves with where to click and what the screens look like.

Small Group

Step Three

Learners work with each other to screen share and role-play the scenario between parties (in this case Member and Rep). While still in the learning phase, they can use one another's knowledge to ensure the system processes and language used are accurate.

Solo Follow-Along

Step Four

Learners control the pace of a simulated conversation. Removing classmate support, learners now have to remember steps on their own. Other skills are emphasized here, such as practicing taking call notes.

In the event the training is 100% self paced, steps 2 and 4 could be the solution for onboarding.

Note: Steps 2 and 4 above are not the same concept.
